It’s me THE OTHER
L’opera nasce e si sviluppa come un’esperienza psicoanalitica inconscia nella definizione di se stessi partendo dal concetto lacaniano di altro come specchio e controparte. Attraverso l’uso della tecnica del datamosh , artefatto digitale che si fa linguaggio, le varie scene che compongono l’opera si fondono e scompongono l’una con l’altra, eliminando le barriere imposte dai corpi, dagli status sociali e dal linguaggio stesso. La resa liquida e fluida stessa delle immagini diventa specchio del grande altro, quella della società contemporanea, una sovraesposizione satura di finti bisogni in cui perdersi, dove quel che rimane di noi è solo la certezza del nostro nome.
Borns and develops as an unconscious psychoanalytic experience in defining oneself starting from the Lacanian concept of the “other” as a mirror and counterpart. Through the use of the datamosh technique, a digital artifact that becomes language, the various scenes that make up the work merge and break down with one another, eliminating the barriers imposed by bodies, social status and language itself . The liquid and fluid rendering of the images itself becomes the mirror of the great Other, that of contemporary society, a saturated overexposure with false needs in which to get lost, where what remains of us is only the certainty of our name.
Matteo Campulla (Iglesias, 1982)
Born in Sardinia, he lives and works in Milan. Graduated from the State Art School in Cagliari in 2004, after years of research under various pseudonyms and collectives he began to use his real name only in 2009, first with painting and then devoted himself almost exclusively to video. In the same years he began working with the Sardinian television station Telecostasmeralda, training as a television production technician, a path that led him to collaborate with various external productions both regionally and nationally, to produce various reports of cultural and artistic events, concerts, theater performances and video clips. In 2013 he won the video section of the Babel Prize with the series “THEY KNOW IT”. In the same year he formed, together with the composer and musician Marco Fadda, the project “Boga Bisuras” bringing their live audio / video performances in different areas, both in museum spaces and in big stages and contests. His works, as well as being exhibited in important public spaces, have been part of numerous Video Art Festivals around the world. From 2020 he’s part of the artists of the Galerie ROMPONE, based in Köln (Germany)
Nato in Sardegna, vive e lavora a Milano. Diplomato al Liceo Artistico Statale di Cagliari nel 2004, dopo anni di ricerca sotto vari pseudonimi e collettivi inizia ad usare il suo vero nome solo nel 2009, dapprima con la pittura per poi dedicarsi quasi esclusivamente al video. Negli stessi anni inizia la collaborazione con l’emittente televisiva sarda Telecostasmeralda formandosi come tecnico di produzione televisiva, strada che lo porterà a collaborare con diverse produzioni esterne sia in ambito regionale che nazionale, alla realizzazione di svariati reportage di manifestazioni culturali e artistiche, concerti, spettacoli teatrali e videoclip. Nel 2013 vince la sezione video del Premio Babel con la serie ”THEY KNOW IT”. Nello stesso anno forma, insieme al compositore e musicista Marco Fadda, il progetto “Boga Bisuras” portando le loro live performance audio/video in diversi ambiti, sia in spazi museali che in grossi palchi e contest. Le sue opere, oltre ad essere state esposte in importanti spazi pubblici, hanno fatto parte di numerosi Festival di Video Arte in tutto il mondo. Dal 2020 fa parte degli artisti della Galerie ROMPONE, con sede a Köln (Germania)
